Dog Cloning

Dogs are well known as one of a pet that are really close to humans, especially when they're living together for such a long time. That's why, in a lot of cases, dog cloning are conducted to copy the same genetic, and create a ‘duplicate’ of the original. That's why, usually clones are created for grieving pet owners. But, there are also another purpose of dog cloning such as being used by police agencies, including the South Korean National Police Agency. For $100,000, anyone who has a cell from any dog can attempt to get a clone. In fact, based on the South Korean lab, they has cloned more than 600 dogs so far. The term cloning is used by scientist to produce generically identical copies of a biological entity. The copy material has the same genetic as the original, is referred to as a clone. Researchers have cloned a wide range of biological materials, including genes, cells, tissues and even entire organisms, such as a dog. The first dog cloning in south Korea was conducted by dr. Kim and has been a success until now. The first thing that he did was to look at the microscope and points to a flat screen on the wall that shows a live feed of what's happening in a petri dish under one microscope, which was an egg. The first thing sciences do to clone a dog, is to start with an egg from another dog, and gently pierces the egg's outer membrane with a tiny glass tube and withdraws the genetic material. After the DNA is being extracted, what were left was an empty egg so that he can injects another tiny blob into the blank egg. In this step It's a skin cell from the animal that's being cloned. A single skin cell contains all the DNA needed to create a genetically identical clone. Even though this process doesn't take that much time, the procedure is done after he insert one cell per egg, and zaps the egg with a tiny bit of electricity. As soon as it zaps, it will start dividing and developing into an early embryo (early embryonic development) Within days, the embryos will be ready for transfer into the uterus of another female dog. But, even when the process has been a success, the clone animals aren't the exact replicas as the original. Environmental influences, including some that help determine when particular genes are turned on and off during development, play a role in how closely the resulting clone mimics the original dog.

Is it ethical?are we playing god?

there are always two sides to look at a certain events or problems. Which is the same in this case; cloning. There are positive and negative sides to look at it. Some people say that it’s beneficial for not only individual to ‘reunite’ with their dogs that are already passed away, but also beneficial to a bigger scale, such as police agencies, including the South Korean National Police Agency. But then, Many also feel that cloning is “not natural” because, overall, cloning requires a significantly greater level of involvement and interference with animals reproductive performance than conventional production methods. There are also several religious groups that doesn’t agree to this procedure. It's viewed by those groups as “playing God”. In my opinion, something that is considered unethical is when the purpose itself leads to negative effects. If this cloning method is used to help people, then I don't see what’s wrong with that. But then it still depends on what people believe and it’s their choice weather to see it in a positive or a negative way.
